Over the past three years, here in the blogosphere, we have made many friends and gotten to know people from all walks of life. This community we have built is strong and seems to be available anytime we need it. Over time we have read about many bloggers meeting up with each other in real life and it is always a beautiful thing. I have always been a bit jealous because there are so many people I would love to meet but we live so far away with no real opportunity to set up any meetings.
This weekend that all changed. There is a blogger that lives a couple of hours from me and she is one of the sweetest people I know. She has been there for me when I needed to talk things through and has wonderful ideas and advice. My youngest, Sarah, thinks that none of you really exist because I refer to you as my imaginary friends, but you do and we proved that to her on Friday. My family and I had the privilege of meeting up with Cara from Every Day, Every Hour, Every Minute.
Cara's hometown high school football team was traveling to play our high school in a heated match up. You see, the only team we lost to last year was them, twice! If you have never lived in the South, then you should understand that high school football is a really big deal. So Cara and her friend decided they would travel the two hours to cheer on their team and give us the opportunity to meet. I am so very glad that they did, it was awesome. Ok, except for the part where her team beat our team.
It is amazing when you meet someone for the first time, but not really. We had so much to talk about and it felt like we had been friends forever. I wish we had been able to spend more time together but there was kind of a football field between us. She did venture to our side at half time but once play started back up and her team was beating us up, her cheers and bouncy glee was attracting negative looks from our neighbors. lol It was safer for her to go back to her side. My family adored her, Sarah was glad to know she really existed and Daniel was beside himself. Most of what Daniel had to say was about his forum and Ninjabetic (his boss that he would love to meet), but these connections are so important to him. He loved that Cara had a pump like his but could not understand why she has not named hers. He also thought it was cool that she had the CGMS, which we are still trying to get for him.
Her team may have beaten ours soundly but while my fellow townspeople were going home with their disappointment, my family went home happy. Happy that we were able to finally meet a fellow blogger. Cara is absolutely cute, bouncy, smart, sweet and very real. We can not wait to meet up with her again next month at the diabetes gathering she has put together, if any of you will be in the TN area make sure you contact us, we would love to meet you.
Here are a few pics from our time together and I think she posted them over on her site as well:

Cara took a pic of me, Daniel and Sarah....

I took some video of the band and because it was with my camera and we were off to the side, the sound is not so great. If you listen you can here Daniel anxious to see Cara since it is half time. lol The band is doing the music of Danny Elfman this year, you may remember him from Oingo Boingo, but now he does everything. Some of the songs are "Nightmare Before Christmas", "Spiderman", and "Edward Scissorhands". While my girl has always marched on Flute or Piccolo, this year she is marching on Mellophone. In the videos, the loudest horn you hear, that is my girl. =)

yay! that's so awesome that you got to meet up! i always say about meeting in real life... and then i think, "wait a sec, real life?" but i'm not real sure what to call it.
marching band rocks!
I'm so glad you and Cara were able to meet!
And you KNOW I loved watching/listening to the band!
I love the videos!
You know, I was reading on the Herald Citizen that the last time York beat Smith county AT Smith County was 22 years ago, when the coach of York was a senior in high school. That's a long time. The funny thing is, the coach's son is a senior this year playing on the team. Kind of cool, huh?
Tell Daniel I am trying to think of a name for my pump.
It is always so cool when meetups happen!
Tell Daniel that I would love to meet him too. I bet sometime we will be in the same part of the world and we can meet. That was so flattering. (a little choked up)
Oh how I long to be in band again. I am so excited because George's first home game is this Friday so we will get to see a field show! SO EXCITED!!! I loved these clips. Thank you so much for sharing them.
Ashley, I know what you mean, it is weird to try to explain to people our lives in the box (computer) vs our lives in "real life". I am glad we get the opportunity to have both. =) Marching Band does Rock, the world would be a sad place without Bandies.;)
Colleen, I am glad you enjoyed it. I dread the day Taylor graduates and breaks my connection to the band, it will be sad. Until then I will try to share as much as possible with you. I hope that maybe someday we can have a band mom meet and greet, wouldn't that be cool?
Cara, that is weird. Of course it would be cooler if we weren't on the losing end of it. lol I will let Daniel know you are in search of a name he will be happy about that.
George, Daniel adores you and I really hope that someday our families will be able to get together. How fun would that be? How exciting about all that is going on with your son! Please tell him he has support across the country. =)
Taylor is in awe of a Tuba player at another school right now that she saw at competition. In the middle of their show the Tuba player goes to the center of the set and places the Tuba on the field. Then from the harness pulls out a Piccolo and does a solo and then right back to the Tuba. That is awesome! Now she wants to work something like that up for her band's show.
